Most people never think about using their feet in their workflow, but this might be one of the easiest upgrades you can make when your hands are already busy. The Elgato Stream Deck Pedal is three programmable foot buttons in a heavy-duty chassis, and once you actually start using it, it becomes a hands-free control system for everything from live streaming to video editing to teleprompter work.
Watch the video above for the full walkthrough, then read on for the specs, the use cases, and the honest verdict.
What the Stream Deck Pedal is
Launched in January 2022 at $89.99, the Stream Deck Pedal is Elgato’s foot-operated companion to its desktop Stream Deck controllers. It connects to your Mac or Windows PC over USB-C (a 2.5 m USB-C to USB-A cable comes in the box) and gives you three pedals you can assign to do anything the Stream Deck software can do: hotkeys, macros, scene switches, app launches, media controls, and much more. The hardware itself is built to take a beating. The chassis is heavy-duty at 930 grams, with anti-skid feet and grippy pedal surfaces so it stays put under your desk while you stomp on it. It measures 244 x 175 x 49 mm, which is a low, wide footprint that tucks neatly under a desk. Elgato even includes interchangeable springs in soft, medium, and hard tensions so you can tune how much pressure each pedal takes, plus stoppers that let you turn the middle pedal into a stationary footrest.
Where it actually earns its keep
The video walks through five use cases, and they are all legitimate. Live streaming is the obvious one: switch scenes, mute your mic, or fire off a censor bleep without taking your hands off the game or your guests. Video editing is where it quietly becomes addictive. Map the pedals to mark in and out points, cut, or render in Premiere Pro and you can keep your hands on the keyboard shortcuts while your feet handle the rest.
Teleprompter control is the sleeper use case. Scrolling your script with your foot keeps your eyes on the lens and your hands free, which makes reads look noticeably more natural. Productivity and desk work is where Smart Profiles shine: you can give the pedals one layout for your browser, another for your editing software, and have them switch automatically when you change apps. And for gaming, the pedals make a great push-to-talk or utility button that does not cost you a finger.
The software is the real product
The Pedal is configured in the free Stream Deck application with simple drag-and-drop actions. The two features that matter most are Multi Actions and Smart Profiles. Multi Actions let you string any number of actions together on a single pedal, so one stomp can snap a screenshot, open the destination folder, and launch it wherever you want to share it. Smart Profiles load different pedal layouts automatically depending on which app is active, so the same three pedals can do completely different jobs in your streaming software, your editor, and your video calls.
You also get access to the same plugin ecosystem as the desktop Stream Deck, with over 100 plugins available, including Elgato’s official Discord plugin for muting, push-to-talk, and switching voice or text channels.

The honest limitation: only three pedals
There is no getting around it. Three pedals is three pedals. If you want one-tap access to a dozen things at once, you need a desktop Stream Deck, not this. Smart Profiles and Multi Actions stretch those three pedals a long way, but they are a workaround, not a cure. The Pedal is best treated as a complement to a Stream Deck you already own, or as a focused tool for the three most-used actions in a workflow, not as a replacement for a full button grid.
Verdict
The Elgato Stream Deck Pedal is exactly what it looks like: simple, sturdy, and surprisingly useful. For around $90 you get three programmable foot pedals with proper software, tunable pedal tension, and a chassis that will outlast your desk. If your hands are constantly busy while you work, stream, or play, this is one of the cheapest flow-state upgrades you can buy.
