Guides

Guides are the fix-it half of Gear Horizon: the setup walkthroughs and troubleshooting I needed myself, filmed step by step. The biggest cluster covers DJI wireless mics, connecting them, updating firmware, and fixing the problems that send people to YouTube at midnight, including the Mic Mini connection issues and getting recordings off the Mic 3 transmitter. You will also find camera settings guides for the DJI Pocket lineup and Final Cut Pro tips. The other long-running series here is crypto self-custody: setting up a Ledger hardware wallet properly and keeping it secure, written for beginners who want it done right the first time. Every guide here ends with the thing working, on camera. Start with Crypto Wallets & Security for the Ledger walkthroughs, or browse the how-tos below for mic, camera and app fixes. For the mic guides specifically, start with DJI Mic Fixes & Setup.
